The video features 17 musicians from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra who each play their part of the Beethoven 9 symphony from their living room. The piece calls for togetherness and connectedness. The video has been viewed\u00a0more than 1 million times on YouTube and has been broadcast\u00a0by various international channels,\u00a0including\u00a0BBC World News.<\/strong><strong>Alle\u00a0Menschen\u00a0werden\u00a0Br\u00fcder<\/strong>The piece of music that is played in the video is Beethoven 9\u00a0\u2018Alle\u00a0Menschen\u00a0werden\u00a0Br\u00fcder\u2019. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra\u00a0was set\u00a0to tour the United States and perform in\u00a0various\u00a0cities, but the coronavirus put an end to that. The tour was\u00a0cancelled\u00a0just before departure and after President Donald Trump&#8217;s announcement\u00a0that\u00a0Europeans\u00a0would be banned\u00a0from entering\u00a0the US. Now the orchestra\u00a0and\u00a0fellow\u00a0Rotterdammer\u00a0and director of Senior Service Floris\u00a0Vervat\u00a0have\u00a0decided to make a virtue of necessity.The musicians\u00a0individually\u00a0recorded their pieces\u00a0of music. All these individual recordings\u00a0were then\u00a0combined into one online performance. Arjen\u00a0Leendertz, double bassist, can also be heard in the performance.\u00a0He says:\u00a0\u2018\u201cAlle\u00a0Menschen\u00a0werden\u00a0Br\u00fcder\u201d\u00a0is a piece that stands for connection, fraternisation and\u00a0solidarity. It was even\u00a0once\u00a0used as a basis for a European national anthem.
