BlueCity is a model city for the circular and blue economy and home to 55 entrepreneurs and a meeting place for pioneers and enterprising minds, where they develop a framework for action, whether to grow their impact, live a zero waste life, or develop a future-proof material. It is located in a former tropical swimming paradise on the river Maas in Rotterdam. One of the innovative entrepreneurs at BlueCity is Superuse Studios, a global architecture office that utilises the contextual potential for design. Superuse Studios doesn’t consider a design as the beginning of a linear, but a circular process: A phase in a continuous cycle of creation and recreation, use and reuse. Superuse received the ARC21 oeuvre award for showing an alternative way of practicing architecture in their first 24 years. Superuse is headquartered in Rotterdam and has several offices around the world. Jan Jongert (photo) is Partner and one of the architects at Superuse Studios.
